Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
