19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on court had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
