The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
